Fruit Bat Falls - Casey Tours

Unless you are a fully self-sufficient 4WD grey nomad touring Australia, some of our Top 5 places are going to be challenging to travel to. But this is where you are in luck, our 4WD off-road luxury coaches can get you touring to these amazing remote locations.

Our Top 5 and the reasons we love them on Casey Australia Tours.

  1. Fruit Bat Falls: Northwest of the Daintree off the Overland Telegraph Track lies one of the most beautiful swimming holes in Queensland. Within this vast remote wilderness lies a tropical oasis with crystal clear, crocodile free water that will amaze the even the most avid traveller.

Sit under the free-flowing waterfall and bask in the ancient limestone landscape and enjoy the variety of flora and fauna that surround this amazing area.

  1. Split Rock Art Site: Following an easy to walk trail following a limestone escarpment you will come across several collections of paintings well over 15,000 years old, which includes paintings of wildlife, spirits and people.

These otherworldly galleries in the rock faces are all too surreal when walking the path to view. This site has deservingly been named by National Geographic’s number one Aboriginal Art Site in Australia.

  1. Daintree River Cruise: A remarkable tour in the most densely populated mangrove estuary in the world and home to the richest wildlife inhabitants, including the apex predator, the Crocodile.

Once onboard, the guides open with tales and fascinating facts on the majestic surrounds and the rare wildlife, it is simply an incredible tour.

  1. Cooktown Botanical Gardens: This estate was established in 1878, with thousands of tourists’ flocking to it every year it is easy to see why. The plant collections on site range from native plants used by the local aboriginal people, species collected by Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander in 1770, a collection from the Qld Acclimatisation Society in the 19th Century and rare and threatened plants of the region. With such a tranquil setting and abundance of fauna, flora and rich history it is truly to be admired.

  1. James Cook Museum: Housed in former 19th Century convent showcasing the fascinating history and remarkable town, with rich and varied exhibits.  Two of the major highlights are the original Anchor and Cannon from HMB Endeavour, both jettisoned from the ship and the galleries are dedicated to the rich and diverse region and numerous nationalities that have traversed this remote location in previous times.

What do you think of our Top 5?  Have you been to any, would you like to? We are consistently amazed by the richness and splendour of our Australian landscape and coach tours for seniors is a way to encapsulate easy travel options for so many.
