Itinerary Details
Day 1
(MD, Motel) Travel via the Darling Scarp to Toodyay for morning tea break then onto Goomalling, Wyalkatchem for lunch with an optional visit to the Agricultural Museum. East to Mukinbudin and into the Shire of Yilgarn at Bullfinch before reaching our base at Southern Cross.
Day 2
(FB, MD, Motel) We spend the day exploring the interesting features of the region, granite outcrops, dams, soaks and lookouts. During the day we hope to find Orchids, Verticordia, Cassia, Grevillea, Damperia and others. Returning to Southern Cross to visit the Yilgarn Museum and dive into the second gold strike in WA after Halls Creek. Note: Museum entry included.
Day 3
(FB, MD, Motel) South of Southern Cross in the Shire of Kondinin we take a walk in the scrub to look for Sundews, Hakea, Leptospermum, Chamelaucium, Synaphea and Acacia. After lunch head over to Wave Rock and Hippos Yawn on the northern face of Hyden Rock. Into Mulkas Cave to view the rock art from the colossal Mulka before returning to Southern Cross. Note: All entries included.
Day 4
(FB) Following the Goldfields Water Supply Pipeline back towards Perth to Merredin and Kellerberrin then south through the fertile soils of the Wheatbelt we come to Quairading. Reaching the Avon Valley and the beautifully restored town of York to visit the York Motor Museum in the middle of town. Back through the blue Lechenaultia down the Darling Scarp into Perth.
