Departure from Perth
Out to WA’s oldest inland town, York, with its magnificently restored heritage buildings from the Victorian and Federation eras. We visit the York Motor Museum in the middle of the main street, Australia’s oldest private motor museum is a celebration of the excitement, the speed and the style of the automobile. The exhibit includes the oldest VW beetle in the world, a 405kph rocket powered go kart and the first British car to break the 100 mph barrier in 1905 as well as posters, motoring memorabilia and photographs. In the afternoon we enjoy lunch at the Greenhills Inn amongst the bush and wheat fields just south of York. On the way home we drop into the York Olive Oil Company to purchase some of the lovely local produce.
