Itinerary Details
Day 1
(MD, Motel) Landing in Broome for a relaxing fully escorted easy-paced holiday. Settle into the Kimberley Sands Cable Beach Resort to enjoy a welcome drink with the group before dinner overlooking the pool and gardens.
Day 2
(FB, L, RD, Motel) Broome has a population of around 15,000 locals, in winter the population can triple to 45,000. Visiting Broome in Summer gives a new appreciation for the locals, the beauty of the landscape, the rich reds of the Pindan soil, the sharp ocean blue, trimmed by the glossy mangrove green. A comprehensive tour of the sights and history of Broome. From the original Yawuru people who know the area as Rubibi, through the first colonial explorers and pastoralists to the multicultural pearling industry, the decline of wild pearl and the new life of Broome as a tourist town and the base of the West Kimberley. Lunch today is in the relaxing gardens of Matso’s Brewery before an afternoon visit to the Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park, home to some of the largest crocodiles on display in Australia as well as breathtakingly colourful birdlife, a cassowary, kangaroos, euros and wallabies, emus, jabirus, snakes and lizards. After a great day around town, we head to Zanders Restaurant for dinner at Sunset overlooking Cable Beach. At this time of year, we may get an afternoon electrical storm roll in while we enjoy dinner.
Day 3
(FB, L, RD, Motel) Heading out of Broome to venture around the Roebuck Plains and south to spend the morning at Eco Beach Resort. Spend your time your way, walk the white sands, take a swim in the ocean or resort pool or wander the tidal zone and rock pools. We have lunch at Jacks Bar at the resort before heading back up to Broome. We enjoy an early dinner at the oldest Hotel in town, the Iconic “Roey”. The Roebuck Hotel was built by EW Streeter in 1890 and has serviced the locals and traveller since. In the evening we visit the historic Sun Pictures, movies have been shown here in the outdoor deck chairs for over 100 years, with a couple of lay years for the war, the cinema is an icon of the town as much as the pearl and Cable Beach.
Day 4
(FB, RD, Motel) We head up to Willie Creek Pearl Farm where you will cruise Willie Creek’s azure waters. View live oysters suspended in their natural environment amongst our native flora and fauna. Get an insight into the fascinating process of modern cultured pearl farming, from shell to showroom. Returning to Broome for our final night dinner at the resort with a new appreciation of Summer in Broome, the landscape and the people who call it home.
Day 5
(FB, L) A morning visit to the 12 Mile Bird Park, the Park now hosts over 600 birds, with more than 80 different species spread across almost 100 aviaries. We head over to The Mango Place to enjoy shared lunch under the huge mango trees. A final chance to relax in the resort or around the pool before our return flight.
