ACCOMMODATION

MEALS

Day 1

(PD, Motel) Fly to Rockhampton where we are met by our coach and transferred to our accommodation, evening snack meal provided in the room.

Day 2

(CB, MD, Motel) Morning visit to the inspiring Cathedral Cave in the Capricorn Cave System. Returning to Rockhampton for lunch before hitting the Queensland Coast at Yeppoon, the gateway to the Keppel Islands. Following the coast down to Emu Park then back to our motel. Note: Cave entry included

Day 3

(CB, MD, Motel) To Gladstone flanked by the Calliope and Boyne Rivers then another elegant drive through the sugarcane and mountain backdrop to Bundaberg. In the afternoon we have an optional visit to the Bundaberg Rum Distillery. We spend the night at Hervey Bay. Note: Distillery entry not included

Day 4

(CB, MD, Motel) Along the Bruce Highway to Noosa, we meander down the beautiful Sunshine Coast. In the afternoon we visit Australia Zoo, created by Bob & Lyn Irwin in 1970 and made famous by The Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin. We settle into Brisbane for three nights. Note: Australia Zoo Entry Included.

Day 5

(CB, Motel) Sightseeing Brisbane we take in the picturesque views from the summit of Mount Coot-tha before heading out on a cruise on the Brisbane River to get a vision of the city from water level. Free time in the city in the afternoon to catch up with friends or get another view of the city from “The Wheel of Brisbane” Ferris Wheel or wander the cultural precinct. Note: River cruise included.

Day 6

(CB, RD, Motel) A peaceful drive into the D’Aguilar Range north west of the city. Through Mt Nebo & Mt Glorious to the Wivenhoe Dam, a major feature in the 2011 floods of Brisbane. Continuing on to Toowoomba in the Darling Downs and a wander around the University of Toowoomba’s Japanese Gardens, Australia’s largest and most traditionally designed Japanese stroll garden. On the way back to Brisbane we stop for dinner at a local hotel.

Day 7

(CB, MD, Motel) Off to the Gold Coast we tour around the canal homes and beaches with time to enjoy the Esplanade of Surfers Paradise. Finishing off QLD we meet the NSW border at Coolangatta / Tweed Heads and spend the night at Ballina.

Day 8

(CB, MD, Motel) Morning visit to the most easterly point in Australia, Cape Byron. Cruising down the NSW coast with the sparkling South Pacific Ocean through our left windows, we visit Ballina then cross the Clarence River to Grafton. Through the Orara State Forest to the Sealy Lookout and Forest Sky Pier, then return to the coast spending the night at Coffs Harbour.

Day 9

(CB, MD, Motel) Spending the morning in Coffs Harbour we visit the Honey Place near the Kalang River. Lunch in the birthplace of Australian Country Music Legend Slim Dusty, Kempsey with a visit to the Slim Dusty Centre featuring objects and images from the Kirkpatrick family’s own extensive archive, as well as contributions from fans and friends from all over the world. Note: Slim Dusty Centre included.

Day 10

(CB, MD, Motel) To Newcastle on the mouth of the Hunter River, we tour this historic town, coal has been mined here since 1799, and it was the NSW Colony’s first export. Newcastle is now the largest coal exporting harbour in the world. Crossing Lakes Entrance we view Lake Macquarie, Australia’s largest salt water lagoon. To Sydney for four nights.

Day 11

(CB, RD, Motel) Getting right into the heart of the largest city in the nation, starting with a tour of the Sydney Opera House before heading into Darling Harbour. Optional visits to SEA LIFE Aquarium or the Australian National Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour. Dining tonight at the Star City Casino buffet. After dark we board our Sydney Harbour VIVID Cruise and fall in love with Sydney. Note: Opera House Tour, Dinner & Cruise included all others optional and not included.

Day 12

(CB, MD, Motel) Over to Manly with free time to stroll the Corso from the Bay to the Beach. Through the northern suburbs to Palm Beach, afternoon cruise along the Hawkesbury River to the stunning Bobbin Head deep in Cowan Creek. Return to the motel across the Harbour Bridge. Note: Hawkesbury River Cruise included.

Day 13

(CB, MD, Motel) Over to Scenic World in the Blue Mountains, take the Skyway, glide between cliff tops and gaze at the rainforest canopy through the glass floor or enjoy the 545m Cableway gently descending into the Jamison Valley. Return via the Scenic Railway, a unique vantage point for appreciating the Three Sisters, Orphan Rock, Mt Solitary and Katoomba Falls. Finishing off a lovely day in the Blue Mountains with a tasting at the Blue Mountain Chocolate Company. Note: Scenic World entry included.

Day 14

(CB, MD, Motel) Through the Royal National Park, the second oldest National Park in the World, to Wollongong. In the afternoon we board the 4WD Tractor Bus “Bigfoot” to climb to the top of Mt Coolangatta for some of the best views of the South Coast. Note: Bigfoot included.

Day 15

(CB, MD, Motel) South through Bega to Eden, deep on the NSW South Coast and nestled on Twofold Bay, one of the deepest natural harbours in the world. We take a scenic cruise on the bay in the afternoon looking for whales and dolphins in this picturesque haven. Note: Scenic Cruise included.

Day 16

(CB, MD, Motel) Crossing into Victoria, we traverse striking ranges and rivers through National Parks interspersed with farmland and farming communities; Orbost, Bairnsdale and Morwell. As we reach the outer suburbs of Melbourne the country smooths out and becomes more populated. We check into our final motel.

Day 17

(CB, MD, Motel) We conduct a comprehensive tour of the city centre, St Kilda, South Bank and Carlton. Later we have a tour of the Melbourne Cricket Ground and National Sports Museum followed by a visit to the Eureka Skydeck for an awe inspiring view of Melbourne from the Southern Hemisphere’s highest viewing platforms. Note: MCG tour & Skydeck included.

Day 18

(CB, RD, Motel) Taking a scenic drive though the ranges north of town, passing the towns of Whittlesea, Kinglake and Healsville to Marysville for lunch. Negotiating the Yarra Ranges to the quaint Puffing Billy steam railway, a century old survivor of four experimental lines used to develop rural areas in the early 1900s. For our final night we dine at the Cuckoo Restaurant snuggled in the Dandenongs and decorated in the style of a Bavarian Chalet with staff dressed in traditional costume, live entertainment, cow bells ringing & yodeling equal to any in Bavaria. Note: Puffing Billy included.

Day 19

(CB) Check out late before flying home after a wonderful tour of the East Coast of Australia.
