ACCOMMODATION

MEALS

Day 1

(MD, Motel) To the Wagin Historical Village, a step back in time that replicates the development of a typical rural Australian community over the last two hundred years. After lunch we travel through Katanning and Tambellup to Albany. In the evening we head up Mt Clarence to view the Avenue of Honour, field of lights, honouring 100 years since the end of the First World War. Note: Avenue of Honour and Wagin Village included.

Day 2

(CB, PD, Motel) Back up Mount Clarence to the National ANZAC Centre for the morning. After free time in town we tour the city and arrive at Middleton Beach for Fish & Chips on the foreshore of Ellen Cove.

Day 3

(CB, MD, Motel) Departing Albany early we head on to Bremer Bay. We have a delightful time in Bremer Bay visiting the town, the very beautiful beaches and scenery in the area. Later it is on to Jerramungup, Ravensthorpe and Esperance.

Day 4

(CB, MD, Motel) A full day around Esperance commences with a marvellous visit to Cape Le Grand beach for a walk or a swim. After lunch free time to explore Esperance. We take a delightful trip along the coast, Twilight Drive and return to Esperance via Pink Lake. Note: National Park entry included.

Day 5

(CB, MD, Motel) North through Salmon Gums to Norseman for Morning Tea. Onto the Eyre Highway, named after Eward John Eyre, the first European to travel across the southern stretch of the country in 1840. We spend the night at Cocklebiddy.

Day 6

(CB, MD, Motel) Crossing into South Australia the Eyre Highway sits very close to the cliffs of the Great Australian Bight, we visit one of the spectacular cliffs of the Bight and travel through the Nullarbor National Park. The Trans Australian Railway runs parallel over 100 km to the north. During the middle of the day we visit Nullarbor Roadhouse and travel the Treeless Plain before reaching Ceduna.

Day 7

(CB, PD, Motel) From Ceduna we visit Streaky Bay on our way down the Flinders Highway towards Port Lincoln, named after the home town of Matthew Flinders who first visited this area in 1802 while looking for the elusive inland sea.

Day 8

(CB, MD, Motel) Port Lincoln is located on the banks of beautiful Boston Bay and is the base for Australia’s largest tuna fleet and tuna farming industry. We spend the morning on the other side of the bay enjoying the Lincoln National Park. After lunch we head up the East Coast of the Eyre Penninsula via Cowell to Whyalla, founded in 1901 by the BHP as the end of a tramway bringing iron ore from the Middleback Ranges. Tonight we reach Port Augusta, the most northerly port in South Australia.

Day 9

(CB, MD, Motel) We travel up into the North Mount Lofty Ranges via Orroroo and Peterborough To Burra, after lunch a guided town tour of this great heritage copper mining town. The whole town is classified by the National Trust, giving a great insight into the hard lives that the early settlers endured in Australia. Later onto our accommodation in Adelaide.

Day 10

(CB, Motel) Our morning tour of Adelaide, founded in 1836 and planned by Colonel William Light, starts with Port Adelaide then the City Centre. We have free time in the city followed by an optional tram ride to Glenelg with a free evening at this lovely seaside community. Return to our accommodation.

Day 11

(CB, MD, Murray Princess) We spend the morning in the Adelaide Hills and Hahndorf a quaint town reflecting its colourful German Heritage, before boarding the Murray Princess for a three day cruise up the Murray River. Having settled in enjoy drinks before a delicious buffet supper, as the paddle steamer cruises to her overnight mooring point and your Captain introduces the crew.

Day 12

(FB, PL, MD, Murray Princess) After a hearty breakfast a guided tour of Murray Bridge’s historic landmarks and local attractions, back on board the Murray Princess in time for lunch. Wecontinue cruising upriver with a brief stop-over in Mannum before mooring at Salt Bush Flat; you will have the opportunity to inspect the wheelhouse with the Captain. After dinner, enjoy being entertained by our talented crew.

Day 13

(FB, PL, MD, Murray Princess) All ashore for the guided nature walk where our guide will share the secrets of the local flora and fauna. Later the PS Murray Princess departs for the big river gorges and 90m cliffs of the upper river. Mid-morning, join us in the Sturt Dining Room for a special presentation on the bounty of food and wine produced in the riverlands. Afternoon our discovery vessel awaits for a wildlife tour. Travelling in small, personalised groups, we explore the maze of the river and the birdlife is amazing. Watch for darters, herons and egrets feeding along the river’s muddy edges.

Day 14

(FB, RD, Motel) We head back to Mannum and after breakfast, we alight at the Mannum Wharf. Back into the coach we head to Cape Jarvis to board the ferry to Kangaroo Island. We reach the Island at the port of Penneshaw and travel to Kingscote.

Day 15

(CB, Motel) Full tour of Kangaroo Island, this soldier settlement island has some interesting industries in the middle with amazing wildlife and scenery along the edge. We visit the Sea Lions at Seal Bay. Later we head to the far South West of the island to the Flinders Chase National Park to view Remarkable Rocks & Admirals Arch. There are many nice places for dinner in Kingscote. Note: Seal Bay and National Park entry included.

Day 16

(CB, RD, Motel) Returning to the mainland and up to the pretty town of Victor Harbour. There is the optional visit to the South Australian Whale Centre or a Horse Drawn Tram out to Granite Island just off the coast. In the afternoon we meander out through the wheat to Barmera on Lake Bonney. Note: Whale Centre and Horse Drawn Tram not included.

Day 17

(CB, PD, Motel) A late start and a relaxing day enjoying the sights, tastes and produce of the riverlands. Visit the Olivewood Estate, originally designed as a Canadian log cabin for the Chaffey brothers from Canada. An afternoon visit to Ruston Roses with more than 50,000 plants and 4,000 varieties. Return to Barmera for our final dinner, a BBQ on the lake. Note: Olivewood and Ruston included.

Day 18

CB) Through Nuriootpa into the Barossa Valley with is picturesque vineyards and quaint towns. Time for lunch in Gwaler, before returning to Adelaide for our flight home.
