Itinerary Details
Day 1
(PD, Motel) Fly to Broome and tour the Pearl of the North West with free time in Chinatown for lunch. Settle into our motel and relax into a welcome dinner with our fellow passengers and tour crew.
Day 2
(FB, CAD, Tent in Nat Park) Head off to Derby at the mouth of the Fitzroy River. The tide changes in King Sound reach 12m, the largest in Australia. We visit Myalls Bore and Cattle Trough, 120m long and able to handle over 500 bullocks, then the Prison Boab Tree believed to be over 1,500 years old and having a girth of 14.7m. Onto the Gibb River Road and down to Windjana Gorge. After setting up our first nights camp take a walk through the gorge, a stunning location for a Kimberley camp complete with a great number of fresh water crocs.
Day 3
(CAB, PL, CAD, Tent in CVan Park) South along the range to Tunnel Creek, a challenging dark walk through a creek which has carved a tunnel through the Napier Range. Back on the Gibb River Road bisecting the picturesque King Leopold Ranges to Bell Creek flowing down Bell Gorge, our first chance for a swim in a Kimberley waterhole.
Day 4
(CAB, PL, CAD, Tent in CVan Park) Back onto the Gibb to Imintji Roadhouse before Galvan’s Gorge to view Aboriginal Artwork. We reach Mt Barnett and camp at Manning Gorge. In the afternoon we can swim at the clear waterhole.
Day 5
(CAB, PL, CAD, Tent in CVan Park) Passing the Gibb River Station we turn north on the Kalumburu Road to Drysdale River Station. In the afternoon there is time to relax or take an optional scenic flight over the Mitchell Falls in the remote far north. Note: Scenic Flight not included, approx $500.
Day 6
(CAB, PL, CAD, Tent in CVan Park) Returning to the Gibb River Road we enter the East Kimberley. Reaching Home Valley Station, the pastoral lease is currently owned by the Indigenous Land Corporation and sits in the shadow of the Cockburn Range. In the afternoon we head down to the Pentecost River to soak in the Kimberley sunset.
Day 7
(CAB, PL, CAD, Tent in CVan Park) We spend the day exploring the gorges and sights of El Questro Station, Zebedee Hot Springs and Emma Gorge. We also visit the station on the Pentecost River. We then hit the bitumen after completing the Gibb River Road and settle into Kununurra on the Ord River for 3 nights.
Day 8
(CAB, Tent in CVan Park) In the early morning you can take an optional flight over Lake Argyle, the Bungle Bungle National Park and the Argyle Diamond Mine. An interesting tour of the vast irrigated farms growing a diverse range of goods from melons and mangoes to sandalwood. Later take a wander down to the old Ivanhoe Crossing before a free afternoon in town for dinner. Note: Bungles Flight, not included, approx. $400.
Day 9
(CAB, CAD, Tent in CVan Park) The Ord is spectacular, today we spend the day on the water in awe of the Ord. Enjoy a cruise 55km along the Ord from Kununurra to Lake Argyle, as well as a cruise of Lake Argyle, feeding fish and swimming with freshwate r crocs. Inbetween lunch at the Argyle Village. Note: Lake Argyle and Ord River Cruise included.
Day 10
(CAB, CAD, Tent in CVan Park) Back to the West then head inland between the stunning Carr Boyd Range on the east and the Durack Range on the west. Through Warmun down to the Bungle Bungle Camp. Optional afternoon Helicopter flights over the Purnululu National Park are available to obtain another perspective of this stunning environment. Note: Helicopter flight not included approx. $400.
Day 11
(CAB, PL, CAD, Tent in CVan Park) Taking the Spring Creek Track into the National Park exploring Cathedral Gorge and the Domes Walk. The structures in the Purnululu National Park are breath taking, the effects of erosion can be seen from small pools to massive gorges. Returning along the Spring Creek Track through Mabel Downs Station to camp.
Day 12
(CAB, CAD, Tent in CVan Park) To Halls Creek, where gold was first discovered in WA in 1884. Afternoon to Fitzroy Crossing on the Fitzroy River near its junction with the Margaret River. Enjoy a cruise on the tranquil and very beautiful Geikie Gorge, our last night camp at Fitzroy. Note: Geikie Gorge Boat Cruise included.
Day 13
(CAB, RD, Motel) We cross the Fitzroy River for the last time at Willare Bridge and return to Broome having explored the amazing features of the Kimberley. Settle into our motel before heading out for our final dinner on the beach watching the sunset over the Kimberley’s most iconic beach.
Day 14
(FB) A free morning relaxing in and around Broome before a flight home.
