Explore Windjana & Tunnel Creek with Casey Tours
May 3, 2017 Carlin

The Kimberley region is known for its rugged ranges, dramatic gorges, Savannah and isolated coastline. The Gibb River Road runs 660 km through the centre of the region, passing through the spectacular Windjana Gorge National Park. Windjana National Park is part of a 375 million year old Devonian reef system. Carved by the Lennard River, Windjana Gorge is over 3 kilometres long with 300 meter high walls. The gorge is very accessible to hikers, with relatively flat access to the deep freshwater pools. See fresh water Crocodiles, Corellas, Fruit Bats, Native Fig, Cajuput and Leichardt trees.

Tunnel Creek, a part of the same ancient Devonian reef system as the gorge, is WA’s oldest cave system.

The cave has been carved over thousands of years by the waters of Tunnel Creek flowing beneath the Napier Range. You can walk 750 meters into the tunnel, the save features stalactites and stalagmites and is home to a variety of wildlife.

Explore the cave with a torch, old sneakers or walking sandals and expect to get a little wet!
